Dora Lavonne (Buttery) Mills

Dora Lavonne (Buttery) Mills, age 66 of Barbourville, was born on February 26, 1956, in Knox County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Cecil Buttery and Evelyn Yeager Buttery. Dora died Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Barbourville ARH Hospital. Mrs. Mills believed in the Baptist faith and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. On September 27, 1971, she united in marriage with Jimmie Wayne Mills Sr. Her lifelong joy was providing customer service to the public where she made lifelong friends, most recently at Barbourville Shell Station and Billy’s One Stop. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie, a son, Cecil Ray Mills, a sister, Rebecca Lynn Buttery, her father-in-law, Franklin Mills, a brother-in-law, Johnny “Pookie” Mills.

Mrs. Mills is survived by her daughter Kimberly Jean Hubbard and husband Jason; her son Jimmie Wayne Mills and wife Kelley; a daughter in law Carol Doolin all of Barbourville, Kentucky; brothers Larry Archie Buttery and wife Carol, Lloyd Buttery and wife Sue, and Terry Buttery, all of Barbourville; brother-in-law Tommy Mills and wife Wanda, Blaine Mills and wife Geraldine, and sister-in-law Jennifer Dees, all of Barbourville; her beloved grandchildren Travis Andrew Mills and wife Shelby of Corbin, KY, Chandler Ray Mills, Jimberly Faith Hubbard, Bailey Ray Hubbard, Joshua Franklin Mills, Emily Ann Mills, and one great grandchild Knox Everett Mills; two special nieces Melissa Alderton and Michelle Mills Jackson, and a special nephew Michael Mills. She also leaves many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins to mourn her passing. Her grandchildren and great-grandchild were the love of her life. The family would like to give a special thanks to “Nan” (Wanda Mills) who was not just a sister but a best friend and second mother to Cecil, Jimmie, and Kim. Nan was by Dora’s side daily through her illness and always made sure Dora was taken care of. The family would also like to give special thanks to long-term care provider Cindy Love, as well as the many others who helped care for Dora over the past few years.

Funeral services for Dora Lavonne Mills will be conducted at Beacon Baptist Church, 190 Stephen Trace Road, Barbourville, KY 40906 at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon with Jimmie Mills and Jason Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in the Mills-Parrott Cemetery at Parrott Branch Road. The Mills family will receive friends at Beacon Baptist Church on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
