Ermon Baxter, age 90 of Corbin, KY passed away on May 28, 2022. He was born in Keavy, KY to the late James Scott and Celia Elizabeth Williams Baxter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings Orpha, Nylene, Nellie, Ira, Dale, Mary Sue “Suzy”, and John.
Mr. Baxter served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer, Second Class during the Korean War, and became a Professional Engineer after graduating from the University of Kentucky. He served the United States as a civilian hydroelectric engineer for his entire career in the US and at posts in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He retired to his tree farm and nursery in 1988 where he lived and worked until his death.
Mr. Baxter is survived by his wife Angela Baxter. He is also survived by his daughters, Chrisila Pettey and husband Bruce, and Celia Higginbotham and husband Brooks; grandchildren, Alora Hibbitts and husband Josiah, David Pettey, Suzie Moncivaez and husband Austin, Joshua Higginbotham, Stephen Higginbotham and wife Falicity, Celia Elizabeth Higginbotham, and Arthur Higginbotham; great-grandson, Wyatt Hibbitts; siblings Norma Sizemore, Betty Gill, Kenneth Baxter, and Jim Baxter.
Graveside memorial services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Keavy, Kentucky. A reception of family and friends to follow at Locust Grove Christian Church.
