Mr. John F. Stewart, age 82, husband of Brenda Stewart of Hwy 2392, Corbin, Kentucky passed away on Friday morning at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Corbin, Kentucky.
He was the father of Brady Stewart and wife, Brenda of Russellville, Kentucky, Brian Stewart and wife, Laura of Chiefland, Florida, Brent Douglas Stewart of Stuart, Florida and Teresa Stewart of Jamestown, Tennessee. He was the brother of Jim Bob Stewart of Corbin, Kentucky and Zella Harmon and husband, Claude of Woodbine, Kentucky. He was also blessed with four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
He was a retired Engineer for C.S.X. Railroad and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church of Corbin. He was also a member of the Laurel County Cattleman’s Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Georgia Hackworth Stewart and by eight brothers, Raleigh Stewart, Harvey Stewart, Leland Stewart, Paul Stewart, Denver Stewart, Homer Stewart, Luther Stewart and by one infant brother, Tommy Stewart.
Funeral services for Mr. John F. Stewart will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon in the Laurel Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Herschel Walker officiating. The family of Mr. John F. Stewart will receive friends on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 5:00 p.m. at Laurel Funeral Home.
Graveside services and burial for Mr. John F. Stewart will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at the Hopewell Cemetery in Corbin, Kentucky with Pastor Dennis McCoy officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Hopewell Baptist Church, 1045 State Hwy 1223, Corbin, Kentucky 40701 or to the Gray Baptist Church, 45 School Street, Gray, Kentucky 40734.
