2015-2025
Beloved Oreo “Little Bunny” passed away peacefully just after sunrise on Nov. 4, 2025, with his human family and bonded bunny mate, Tiger by his side. In his infancy, Little Bunny’s enormous ears led some to believe he would grow to be a gigantic bunny. Instead, he ranged back and forth from chunky bunny to medium-sized bunny to smaller bunny, never quite growing into his ears. Born a Hoosier, Little Bunny lived in and traveled across numerous other states, including Kentucky, Tennessee, and Maryland. His early career involved working as an apprentice at “Snowflakes by Snowflake,” founded by his first bonded partner, Snowflake. There, he helped create one-of-a-kind paper chew outs before moving on to other independent cardboard construction projects in the home. His pastimes included hide-and-seek, asking for special treats, initiating flopping and grooming competitions with his bonded bunny friends, designing innovative games with ordinary household objects, and occasionally being wiggled back and forth by his human to various Latin beats. Little Bunny also gave to the community, allowing his human caretakers to donate his "fertilizer" to community-supported agriculture farms in Maryland and Kentucky.
For the first five years of his life, Little Bunny was a devoted friend to his elder bunny, Snowflake, rarely leaving her side. Upon her passing in 2020, he grieved hard, became sick, and his human family became very worried. But Little Bunny rallied back over the following months, eventually bonding with new rabbit partner, Tiger, of Elizabethtown. Even with mobility limitations in his final months, he never lost his curiosity and cheerful nature.
Little Bunny will always be remembered for his easy-going, joie de vivre approach to life and his keen sense of humor, always getting a kick out of getting caught in the middle of mischief and leaving the scene with a flick of his head and an extra spring in his hop.
Little Bunny is preceded in death by human family member, Angela Townsend, who loved him dearly and would have certainly written a lengthy memorial poem for him, as she did for Snowflake. He is survived by Tiger, his human family, Jack Eaton, Akisha Townsend Eaton, and a host of other human family members.
A celebration of life in Bowling Green, KY will take place in the coming days.
