Phyliss Ann (Jones) Shumate

Ms. Phyllis Ann Shumate, age 80 wife of the late Donald Edward Shumate of Ball Ave., Corbin, Kentucky passed away on Thursday afternoon at her residence.

She was the mother of Donald Ray Shumate Sr. of Corbin, Kentucky and Glendall Clayton Shumate of Barbourville, Kentucky. She was the sister of Junior Jones of Lily, Kentucky, Judy Jenkins, Thelma Jones and Wilma Alsip all of Corbin, Kentucky and Faye Burke of Woodbine, Kentucky. She was also blessed with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She was of the Baptist faith.

 Besides her husband, she is also preceded in death by two daughters, Crystal Shumate Norman and Margaret Jewell Neal, by one son, Buford Arliss Shumate and by her parents, Fred Calvin Jones and Lola McCreary.

Funeral services for Ms. Phyllis Ann Shumate will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon in the Laurel Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Roger Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery in Faber, Kentucky. The family of Ms. Phyllis Ann Shumate will receive friends at Laurel Funeral Home from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
