Mr. Roy Wayne Jenkins, age 73 of Hopewell Estates, Corbin, Kentucky passed away on Friday afternoon at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, Kentucky.
He was the father of Tarena Jenkins of Louisville, Kentucky, Katherine Jenkins and Kimberly Bingham and husband, Eric all of Corbin, Kentucky. He was the grandfather of Tanner Jenkins and Jaiden Bingham both of Corbin, Kentucky, Lyndsey Pate of Louisville, Kentucky and Caleb Pate of Shelbyville, Kentucky. He was the great-grandfather of Eliza Pate, Forrest Pate, Ezra Pate and Alex Berres all of Shelbyville, Kentucky. He was the brother of Curt Jenkins, Kenneth Jenkins, Keith Jenkins, Nealy Jenkins, Jr. and Russell Jenkins all of Corbin, Kentucky and Rena Arnold and husband, Bill of Lexington, Kentucky. He was also blessed with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nealy Jenkins, Sr. and Ruby Katherine Elam, by one brother, Bobby Jenkins and by one sister, Doris Miller.
He was retired from the railroad, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners at the Laurel Water District #2, He served as a Laurel County Magistrate for District #2, he was a Mason, a Shriner, a Auctioneer, he also owned and operated an apartment rental business in the area.
Funeral services for Mr. Roy Wayne Jenkins will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon in the Laurel Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Jo Eaton and Bro. Brent Carroll officiating. Entombment will follow at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky. The family of Mr. Roy Wayne Jenkins will receive friends at Laurel Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening and from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour of 2:00 p.m. on Thursday also at Laurel Funeral Home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Pallbearers will be Billy Arnold, Nick Arnold, Brandon Jenkins, Bryan Jenkins, Cameron Arnold, Charles Miller Jr., Bob Shely and Rob Walden.
