Sam Thomas, Jr.

Mr. Sam Thomas, Jr. age 83, husband of the late Lois George Thomas of North Mill Street, London, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday at his residence.

He was the father of Melissa Cheek and husband David of Maysville, Kentucky and Dallas Thomas and wife Cindy of Louisville, Kentucky. He was the brother of Wanda Bruner of London, Kentucky and Mary Rose Pennington of Texas. He was the grandfather of Samuel Cheek and wife, Katie of Ludowici, Georgia, Aaron Cheek and wife, Samantha of Polk City, Florida, Hannah Shepherd and husband, Adam of Madison, Alabama, Elizabeth Freeland of Barbourville, Kentucky and Leah Schember and husband, Don of Beulaville, North Carolina.

He was also blessed with eighteen great-grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives, church family and friends to mourn his passing. Besides his wife, he is also preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Thomas and Lizzie Belle Cupp Thomas, by four brothers, Bill Adams, John M. Adams, Emmett Thomas and Jesse Adams and by one sister, Louise Boggs.

He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the East Pittsburg Baptist Church of London, Kentucky. He was a Kentucky Licensed Funeral Director currently serving families at Laurel Funeral Home in Corbin, Kentucky. He began his funeral service career in the early 1960's at the Bowling-Walker Funeral Home in London, Kentucky.

Funeral services for Mr. Sam Thomas, Jr. will be conducted on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at the East Pittsburg Baptist Church with Pastor Trevor Brummett and Rev. Denny McCowan officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralph P. George Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family of Mr. Sam Thomas, Jr. will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the East Pittsburg Baptist Church.
