Ms. Velma Tincher Flannery, age 91 of South Highway 25, Corbin, Kentucky passed away on Monday morning at her residence.
She was the mother of Sammy Flannery and wife, Tammy, Vickie Sexton and husband, Steve all of London, Kentucky, Bonita Bush and husband, Sammy of Corbin, Kentucky, Regina Kay Swanner Hart and husband, Eric of East Bernstadt, Kentucky and Shiela Weaver and husband, Doug of Hustonville, Kentucky. She was the sister of Ruth Shoemaker of Mansfield, Ohio. She was also blessed with nineteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing. She was of the Baptist faith and attended the Cornerstone Baptist Church of London, Kentucky. She retired from the American Greetings Company where she worked in the Litho Printing Department.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Johnny “Hank” Flannery, by one son, Michael Flannery, by her parents, Henry and Ollie Williams Tincher, by her brother, Jess Tincher and by two sisters, Ester McGlone and Judy Smith.
Funeral services for Ms. Flannery will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon in the Laurel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Shawn Madden, Pastor Larry Sowders and Bro. Brandon Swanner officiating. Private burial will follow in the Old Salem Cemetery in London, Kentucky. The family of Ms. Velma Tincher Flannery will receive friends at Laurel Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour of 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
In lieu of flowers the family has respectfully requested that memorial contributions be made to the Lily Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 502, Lily, Kentucky 40740.
