Viola Geraldine (Gerri) Sharp, 80, of Corbin, Kentucky passed away peacefully on July 27, 2022, at the Heritage. Geraldine grew up in Corbin, a town she loved however life took her other places. Geraldine worked in nursing for over 30 years and enjoyed singing, writing poetry, drawing doodles and taking care of animals and humans.
Geraldine was predeceased by her father, Reverend Arlo Sharp, Mother Mildred Sapp and Stepmother Ruby Sharp as well as her dear Sister Brenda McVay. Geraldine is survived by her children; Lynnetta Diane Smith (husband Kevin), Randy Lawless (wife Karen), Wade Lawless (wife Kim), Angela Cannady Valentine (husband Paul), brothers; Arlo (Butch) Sharp Jr, Eugene Sharp, Reg Sapp and sister Nadjy Mikesell; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, her great niece Brendi who was more like a grandchild and many others who mourn her passing and celebrate her life.
A special thank you to the staff at the Heritage in Corbin for the love and care they have shown our mother over the last 6 years and Lynn Basque for putting together the video to honor the memory of her grandmother.
Services will be held at New Vision Pentecostal Church in Gray, Ky at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1st, 2022. We request all of Gerri's loved ones to join us at New Vision Pentecostal Church in Gray, Kentucky on August 1st, 2022, at 12:00 Noon for a visitation in celebrating this beautiful lady that loved the Lord and touched so many. Friends and family are invited to the fellowship hall at the church following burial at Worley Cemetery. Laurel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
